Who doesn’t love a good celebration? Turns out, many of us. Our words might not communicate that but our actions certainly do. Case in point:
We set goals and never acknowledge or celebrate the small steps we take that move us closer to where we want to be. When you stop and think about it, this actually shouldn’t be a surprise. Even when we accomplish a big goal, it’s not uncommon for there to be an absence of celebration because of the feeling that there’s no time to ‘waste’ before moving on to the next thing.
But here’s the downside of that:
In the absence of celebration we rob ourselves of fully experiencing progress… experiencing a win… experiencing the feeling of accomplishment. We deny ourselves the acknowledgement that what we are doing matters.
The long-term effect? It leads to overwhelm, burnout, and those moments when we scratch our heads and wonder how the heck we even ended up here.
No matter your goals, no matter what is going on in your life and business right now, I guarantee there is something worth celebrating. It doesn’t require champagne and noise makers. It could be as simple as an intentional pause acknowledging the value of the action you’ve taken to move you closer to your ultimate goal.
This might feel strange intellectually but your body is going to LOVE you for it because of the yummy endorphin release that it creates.
Don’t save your fancy china for a special occasion and don’t save your celebrations for Hurculean size feats. Trust me, all of your effort is worth celebrating. Making time for it will create a positive impact on your well-being and results.
